چکیده

Heteroresistance to colistin can be defined as the presence of resistant subpopulations in an isolate that is susceptible this antibiotic. Colistin resistance Gram-negative bacteria more frequently related chromosomal mutations and insertions. This work aimed study heteroresistance nine clinical isolates Klebsiella pneumoniae producing OXA-48 describe genomic changes mutants with acquired vitro. Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined by broth microdilution (BMD) population analysis profiling (PAP). The proteins were analyzed for mutations. Additionally, PCR mgrB gene performed identify In parental isolates, PAP method showed colonies growing on plates concentrations up 64 mg/L, corresponding stable mutant subpopulations. MICs some from plate containing 4×MIC had absolute values ≤2 mg/L higher than persistent variants. identified insertion sequence inactivated 21 mutants. Other substitutions investigated found PhoP, PhoQ, PmrB, PmrC, CrrA CrrB proteins. K. attributed mainly insertions point results will improve understanding regarding mechanisms OXA-48.

Colistin heteroresistance in carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Sir, Klebsiella pneumoniae is an important pathogen that causes severe and life-threatening infections. Most isolates demonstrate resistance to various antimicrobial agents. Carbapenems have been widely used to treat serious infections with multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae. However, the increasing use of these compounds has led to the emergence of carbapenem-resistant isolates via acquired gen...

Emergence of OXA-48-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in Taiwan

The isolation of OXA-48-producing Enterobacteriaceae has increased dramatically in Mediterranean countries in the past 10 years, and has recently emerged in Asia. Between January 2012 and May 2014, a total of 760 carbapenem non-susceptible Klebsiella pneumoniae (CnSKP) isolates were collected during a Taiwan national surveillance. Carbapenemases were detected in 210 CnSKP isolates (27.6%), incl...

Genome sequence of OXA-48 carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae KpO3210.

Klebsiella pneumoniae KpO3210 is a OXA-48 carbapenemase-producing isolate obtained from a blood culture in the context of an outbreak in Hospital Universitario La Paz (Madrid, Spain) in 2010. It belongs to the major clone detected during the outbreak and is resistant to all beta-lactams and to several other antibiotics.

Introduction: A Klebsiella pneumoniae bacterium, which is the most important species of the Klebsiella genus, mainly causes hospital infections. Moreover, it has a high resistance to most of the available antibiotics, which has caused concern among doctors all over the world. Therefore, the amount of antibiotic resistance and the effect of these antibiotics on Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates pr...
